Two Fort Worth Report communication pros share their North Central Texas experiences and offer tips on how to deliver stories, uplifting and otherwise, that engage readers. These nonprofit news practitioners describe how the sausage is made — and successfully sold — in a hostile political climate to a largely indifferent audience. Environment reporter Nicole Lopez emphasizes a variety of issues, from water, conservation and land use to air quality and Tarrant County open spaces. Nicole grew up in El Paso and studied multimedia journalism and creative writing at UT El Paso. She moved to the area in 2022 and reported for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. John Greer is a seasoned digital marketer with over 20 years at DFW ad agencies. Before becoming the Fort Worth Report’s director of audience, he was with the FW agency PMG where he worked across industries with brands such as hotels.com and Consumer Reports, as well as smaller organizations like the Fort Worth Opera. He earned his undergraduate marketing degree at UT Austin and his graduate degree from Texas A&M.
