A little history
The area is named for the Native American villages that once lined the creek — in the 1830s this valley held one of the region’s largest concentrations of Native peoples, and artifacts found nearby date back nearly 9,000 years. On May 24, 1841, it was the site of the Battle of Village Creek, when Republic of Texas militia under Gen. Edward H. Tarrant attacked the Caddo villages here.
